It’s Official: Max has confirmed that Kaitlyn Dever, known for her roles in “The No One Will Save You” and “Last Man Standing,” has been cast as Abby Anderson in Season 2 of ‘The Last of Us.’
In ‘The Last of Us Part II,’ Abby Anderson is a member of the Washington Liberation Front (WLF), a faction that arose in the post-apocalyptic world following a devastating fungal infection. This infection led to the emergence of hostile creatures known as “infected.” Abby’s father, who was a doctor, was killed by Joel Miller, the main character from the first game. This act was performed to save Ellie, another significant character who possesses immunity to the infection.
The filming for season 2 is now scheduled to start on February 20, 2024, in Vancouver, BC, Canada, with filming expected to wrap on September 9, 2024. The Last of Us creator Neil Druckmann on Season 2, “My focus on The Last of Us’ next season has remained the same — Craig and I want to create a great season of television that stays true to the themes and intent of the original Part II story while adapting the story as best we can for a different medium.”
In Season 2, Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey will return to their roles as Joel Miller and Ellie Williams.
Based on the 2013 video game of the same name, developed by Naughty Dog, the series follows Joel (Pascal), a smuggler tasked with escorting Ellie (Ramsey), a teenage girl, across the post-apocalyptic United States, and Joel’s younger brother and former militiaman, Tommy (Gabriel Luna). Along the way, they encounter fellow survivors, cutthroat bandits, and monstrous clickers who have become so infected by the disease that fungi sprout from their bodies. Created and written by Craig Mazin and Druckmann for HBO.
Mazin confirms that ‘The Last of Us’ Season 2 will be divided into two seasons. He said, “The show won’t conclude with Season 2 unless viewers don’t watch it and it gets canceled.“
‘The Last of Us’ Season 1 recently won 8 Emmys at the Creative Arts Emmys, and it has earned three nominations for the 29th Annual Critics Choice Awards. The nominations include Best Drama Series, Best Actress in a Drama Series for Ramsey, and Best Actor in a Drama Series for Pascal.
‘The Last of Us’ season 2 is scheduled to premiere on HBO in early 2025.
