HBO‘s ‘The Last of Us‘ Season 1 earned 8 Emmys on Night 1 of the Creative Arts Emmys. Nick Offerman takes home Best Guest Actor for his role as Bill in ‘Long, Long Time,’ and Storm Reid secures the Outstanding Guest Actress Emmy for ‘Left Behind.'”

  • Best Guest Actress: Storm Reid
  • Best Prosthetic Makeup: ‘The Last of Us’
  • Best Special Visual Effects: ‘The Last of Us’
  • Best Main Title Design: ‘The Last of Us’
  • Best Sound Mixing: ‘The Last of Us’
  • Best Sound Editing: ‘The Last of Us’
  • Best Picture Editing: ‘The Last of Us’

Other Emmy Wins: ‘The Bear‘ for Best Comedy Casting, ‘Beef‘ for Limited Series Casting, ‘House of the Dragon‘ for Fantasy Costumes, ‘Wednesday’ for Contemporary Costumes, ‘The Boys‘ for Stunt Coordination, and ‘Weird: The Al Yankovic Story‘ for Best TV Movie.

Recently, ‘The Last of Us’ has earned three nominations for the 29th Annual Critics Choice Awards, including Best Drama Series, Best Actress in a Drama Series for Bella Ramsey, and Best Actor in a Drama Series for Pedro Pascal.

'The Last of Us' Season 1 Secures 8 Emmy Wins

The filming for season 2 is now scheduled to start on February 20, 2024, in Vancouver, BC, Canada, with filming expected to wrap on September 9, 2024. The Last of Us creator Neil Druckmann on Season 2, “My focus on The Last of Us’ next season has remained the same — Craig and I want to create a great season of television that stays true to the themes and intent of the original Part II story while adapting the story as best we can for a different medium.”

In Season 2, Pascal and Ramsey will return to their roles as Joel Miller and Ellie Williams. Additionally, the new cast member Shannon Berry has been rumored for the role of Abby Anderson.

Based on the 2013 video game of the same name, developed by Naughty Dog, the series follows Joel (Pascal), a smuggler tasked with escorting Ellie (Ramsey), a teenage girl, across the post-apocalyptic United States, and Joel’s younger brother and former militiaman, Tommy (Gabriel Luna). Along the way, they encounter fellow survivors, cutthroat bandits, and monstrous clickers who have become so infected by the disease that fungi sprout from their bodies. Created and written by Craig Mazin and Druckmann for HBO.

‘The Last of Us’ Season 2 is scheduled to premiere on HBO in early 2025.
