Jac Schaeffer has confirmed that Nicky (Nicholas Scratch) is the son of Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) and Rio Vidal (Aubrey Plaza). This is the long-awaited answer that fans expected, but the Agatha All Along series never clarified.

During the Agatha All Along panel at PaleyFest on March 22, 2025, showrunner Schaeffer revealed that Agatha’s son, Nicholas, was her love child with Rio Vidal. After the revelation, Hahn looked completely shocked by the answer and tried to hide her smile.
“People thought Rio was Nicholas’ mom,” she said when asked about her favorite fan theories.
Schaeffer added, “When we were developing it, we got a lot of questions: ‘Who’s the dad?’ We were like, ‘Why do you want to know?’ It was something that was important to the writers and to me. It was really lovely that this was something the fans speculated about, and we were able to confirm it.”

Nicholas appears in the final episode of the series, played by Abel Lysenko. Born in the 1750s, Agatha’s son was originally meant to die at birth. However, Agatha Harkness saves him by bargaining with Death, allowing her to raise him for six years before his inevitable fate.
In the series, Agatha Harkness wears a locket to remember her son, Nicky, and Rio Vidal. But Kathryn Hahn shared a surprising story—before she left to film Agatha All Along, her family gave her a special locket without knowing about the show.
“My family made me a necklace with their hair!” Hahn said. “I wore it under Agatha’s locket for most of the show. It felt like I had two lucky charms with me.”
Schaeffer created the WandaVision spin-off show, is based on the Marvel Comics character Agatha Harkness. The show stars Hahn as Agatha Harkness, Joe Locke as Teen, Ali Ahn as Alice, Sasheer Zamata as Jennifer Kale, Aubrey Plaza as Rio Vidal, Patti LuPone as Lilia Calderu, Debra Jo Rupp as Sharon Davis/Mrs. Hart, Miles Guiterrez-Riley as Eddie, Paul Adelstein and Maria Dizzia as Jeff and Rebecca Kaplan, Emma Caulfield-Ford as Dottie Jones/Sarah Proctor, Evan Peters as Ralph Bohner, and Kate Forbes as Evanora Harkness.
