Will Ned Returns In New Holland’s Spider-man Trilogy?
A Twitter source (@MCU_Source) confirmed that Jacob Batalon’s Ned will not return in Holland’s Spider-Man 4. Edward “Ned” Leeds is a supporting character in Marvel Comics’ Spider-Man series and also a friend of Peter Parker.
In an interview with Collider, Batalon said he would love to come back as Ned Leeds for more in Spider-Man 4. He said, “I feel like actors are the last people to know. I think that people assume that actors are always hiding secrets. I promise you, we don’t know anything. But again, if it’s the right place, at the right time, with the right group of people that we’ve been with, I would say, why not? But other than that, whatever happens, happens. Really, those decisions are up to the big bosses, the people who sign the checks. We’re open to the idea, but we’re not hoping for it.”
In Marvel Comics, Edward “Ned” Leeds is a character who, for a period of time, was depicted as the Hobgoblin. Ned Leeds was initially introduced as a supporting character and a reporter working at the Daily Bugle, where Peter Parker (Spider-Man) also worked. In The Amazing Spider-Man #289, published in 1987, a plot twist revealed Ned Leeds as the Hobgoblin. However, it was later revealed that he was not the true mastermind behind the Hobgoblin persona. The original plan was for Ned to be the real Hobgoblin, but due to editorial changes and a desire to keep the character of Ned Leeds intact, the storyline was altered.
Most recently, Producer Amy Pascal told Variety: “Are we going to make another movie? Of course, we are. “We’re in the process, but with the writers’ strike, nobody is working during the strike. We’re all being supporters and whenever they get themselves together, we’ll get started.”
Holland’s Spider-Man 4 release date is slated for late 2025.
