James Gunn‘s Superman is now playing in theaters, and the cast members’ salaries have been revealed by a PUCK report. DC Studios paid Nicholas Hoult $2 million for his role as Lex Luthor.
According to the report, the salaries for the Superman cast are as follows:
- David Corenswet, who plays Superman/Clark Kent, was paid $750,000.
- Rachel Brosnahan, who plays Lois Lane, also received $750,000.
- Nicholas Hoult received $2 million for playing Lex Luthor.

Also, Corenswet, Brosnahan, and Hoult are in line for box office bonuses if Superman performs well. David Zaslav, the CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, was described as “downright giddy” during the film’s premiere.
Superman opened with $22.5 million in domestic previews — the biggest preview number for any movie in 2025 so far. The film was originally projected to earn $115–130 million domestically in its opening weekend. However, due to overwhelmingly positive reviews, ‘Superman’ will likely leave those projections “in the dust.”
Here’s the logline from DC Studios for Superman: “In his signature style, Gunn takes on the original superhero in the newly imagined DC universe with a singular blend of epic action, humor, and heart, delivering a Superman who’s driven by compassion and an inherent belief in the goodness of humankind.”
The film stars Corenswet (Twisters, Hollywood) in the dual role of Superman/Clark Kent, Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) as Lois Lane, and Hoult (the X-Men movies, Juror #2) as Lex Luthor. The film also features Gathegi (The Harder They Fall), Anthony Carrigan (Barry, Gotham), Nathan Fillion (the Guardians of the Galaxy films, The Suicide Squad), Isabela Merced (Alien: Romulus), Skyler Gisondo (Licorice Pizza, Booksmart), Sara Sampaio (At Midnight), Gabriela de Faría (The Moodys), Wendell Pierce (Selma, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan), Alan Tudyk (Andor), Pruitt Taylor Vince (Bird Box), and Neva Howell (Greedy People).
DC Studios heads Peter Safran and Gunn are producing the film, which Gunn is directing from his own screenplay, based on characters from DC — Superman created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.
