Chastain said, “I know it’s been 10 years since Jennifer Lawrence fell at an award show; let me fix this.” One of the most memorable moments in recent Oscar history was when Jennifer Lawrence famously fell while walking up to the stage to accept her Best Actress award for her role in “Silver Linings Playbook” at the 85th Academy Awards in 2013. As Lawrence climbed the stairs in her stunning Dior Haute Couture gown, she tripped and fell, briefly losing her balance and dropping her clutch purse. However, she quickly recovered with a smile and a laugh, acknowledging the audience’s applause and cheering her on as she continued up to the stage.
The SAG Awards are voted by the 120,000-plus SAG-AFTRA members. Sally Field, who received the SAG Life Achievement Award, was also honored at the occasion.
Chastain began her acting career in 2004, appearing in various stage productions before making her screen debut in the made-for-TV movie “Dark Shadows” (2006). She went on to appear in several other television shows, including “Law & Order: Trial by Jury” (2005) and “Veronica Mars” (2004), before landing her breakout role in the critically acclaimed drama “The Tree of Life” (2011), directed by Terrence Malick. Chastain’s work has earned her numerous awards and nominations, including two Academy Award nominations for Best Actress, for “Zero Dark Thirty” and “The Help” (2011). She has also won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama, for her role in “Zero Dark Thirty,” and has been nominated for several other Golden Globe Awards, as well as BAFTA Awards and Screen Actors Guild Awards.
In addition to her acting career, Chastain is also a prominent advocate for women’s rights and gender equality, using her platform to raise awareness about issues such as sexual harassment and equal pay. She is also a supporter of various charitable organizations, including the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund, which provides legal support to those who have experienced sexual harassment or assault in the workplace.
