Todd Phillips‘ Joker: Folie à Deux, starring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, is now playing in theaters. As the highly anticipated sequel to the 2019 film Joker, it features compelling musical performances and remarkable chemistry between Phoenix and Gaga. However, the film’s ending has sparked debate among audiences; many feel it undermines the original movie’s ending, leading to feelings of confusion and disappointment among fans.
On X (formerly Twitter), many viewers who have seen Joker: Folie à Deux are expressing that the sequel feels unnecessary and tarnishes the legacy of the first film. User @marvelousmarc96 commented, “Joker: Folie à Deux might be the worst movie of 2024… that ending completely ruins the first movie. If you’re a fan of the first movie, DO NOT WATCH JOKER 2.”
User @ty_ty_81502 shared their thoughts on Joker: Folie à Deux on X, stating, “Joker: Folie à Deux was honestly a disappointing mess. It’s shot wonderfully, and Joaquin is amazing, but beyond that? This movie was just a disaster. The writing is shockingly horrible, Gaga’s acting ranges from decent to lifeless, and the ending is god awful… genuinely shocked.”
User @ChavucaFilms says, “Joker: Folie à Deux was a bit disappointing. I enjoyed the first 60% of the movie, but after that, it lost me. The cinematography is phenomenal, and honestly, you could take out Harley Quinn, and the plot would still be the same. The ending was disappointing.”
In Joker: Folie À Deux, Arthur Fleck Phoenix (Joaquin Phoenix) is institutionalized at Arkham awaiting trial for his crimes as Joker. While struggling with his dual identity, Arthur not only stumbles upon true love, but also finds the music that’s always been inside him.
