Jon Bernthal’s Punisher will have major screen time in Spider-Man: Brand New Day alongside Tom Holland.
According to insider Daniel Richtman, in his new Patreon post, he revealed: “Punisher is reportedly set to have the biggest role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day among the other heroes.“

Also, Holland is currently on a short break from filming Brand New Day in Glasgow, while his stunt doubles are filming scenes featuring fights with Michael Mando‘s Scorpion and other villains.
In a recent interview with Collider, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige opened up about the Punisher appearing in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Feige stated that this version of the Punisher will feature a different tone compared to the mature, darker iteration seen on the small screen.

Feige said, “When Punisher is in the Spider-Man movie, it’ll be a different tonality.”
He added, “I think there’s a promise at the end of No Way Home, that for as sad as it is that Peter is forgotten by everyone in his life, we are seeing, for the first time in the Tom Holland Spider-Man stories, him being a proper Spider-Man—being by himself, dedicated to saving the city, and dealing with, for lack of better terms, street-level crime as opposed to world-ending events… So when you do that, you ask, okay, who are the other street-level characters we’ve never seen him interact with? And of course, I love that the Punisher started in a Spider-Man comic. That great cover… I don’t want to say too much, but Destin—well, I will say too much—Destin is doing an amazing job right now on that movie, which starts shooting very soon. And he’s got eight or nine comic covers up on his wall in his art department that he is bringing to life in this movie, which is super cool.”
Recently, Mark Ruffalo has reportedly begun performing motion capture for his role as the Hulk in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton is directing the film from a screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. The film stars Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, with Zendaya and Jacob Batalon reprising their roles as MJ Watson and Ned Leeds. Sadie Sink joins the cast alongside Bernthal as Frank Castle (a.k.a. The Punisher) and Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/The Hulk. Liza Colón-Zayas and Tramell Tillman have also been cast in undisclosed roles, while Mando returns as Mac Gargan from Spider-Man: Homecoming. Additionally, Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova will appear in the movie.
Here’s the new synopsis for Spider-Man: Brand New Day:
After the world has forgotten his name, Peter Parker (Holland) begins a new chapter in his life — balancing college classes, part-time work, and his responsibility as New York’s friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. But when a mysterious force begins to unravel the city from the inside out, Peter finds himself caught between powerful enemies, old legacies, and unexpected allies. As shadows from the past creep into his present, he must redefine what it truly means to be a hero — on his own.
The film is produced by Amy Pascal, Rachel O’Connor, Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Mitch Bell.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to hit theaters and IMAX on July 31, 2026.
