Joseph Kosinski‘s F1 movie ‘Apex,’ starring Brad Pitt, will have its first trailer drop on Sunday, July 7, 2024, as confirmed by Daniel Richtman on his Patreon post. The film is one year ahead of its release, and the trailer is being released now because the production cost is over $300 million. The movie is produced by Apple Studios.
In the film, Pitt portrays Sonny Hayes, a former Formula One driver who experienced a devastating crash in the 1990s, leading to his retirement from the sport. However, a Formula One team owner and friend calls him back into the racing world, who requests his assistance in mentoring rookie prodigy Joshua Pearce on the Apex Grand Prix team (APXGP).
Directed by Kosinski from a screenplay by Ehren Kruger, the film also stars Damson Idris as Joshua Pearce, Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, Javier Bardem as Sonny Hayes’ friend and APXGP team principal, Lewis Hamilton as himself, Sarah Niles as Joshua Pearce’s mother, and Will Merrick.
According to Puck, the budget for the movie has reportedly surpassed $300 million as of now. They have shot during actual F1 races and used the smallest moveable 6K camera ever. (See the shooting spot footage)
