Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who played Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), has confirmed that she has wrapped filming for her new movie – Marvel’s ‘Thunderbolts*‘.
In a recent interview with Variety, when asked about wrap details and doing her own stunts in ‘Thunderbolts’, Louis-Dreyfus confirmed the wrap, saying, “Yes.” She added, “I don’t know if you’re familiar with the Marvel Universe, but when you join it, you sign your life away in an NDA – So if I say anything to you right now, I will be executed by the universe.”
According to the film’s plot, “Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), US Agent (Wyatt Russell), Ghost (Ava Starr), and Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko) are sent by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Louis-Dreyfus) to kill Sentry (Lewis Pullman) in a vault. They realize they’ve been set up and were meant to die on this mission. So, they team up against their boss—to take her down.”
‘Thunderbolts*’ Shifts Focus to Human Stories Over CGI Characters, Reveals Julia Louis-Dreyfus
Speaking to The New York Times, Louis-Dreyfus says ‘Thunderbolts*’ is very much focused on the human story. She said, “It’s very well organized. Very methodical. And I don’t mean that in a negative way. Particularly on this film, they’re very much focused on, frankly, the human story, believe it or not. They’re trying to sort of go back to their roots, as it were. And so there’s a lot of focus on that. They’re trying to stay away from as much C.G.I. or whatever as possible, so that the stunts are, like, everywhere. And in fact, I had to do a couple.”
Directed by Jake Schreier and stars Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Pugh as Yelena Belova, Russell as John Walker/U.S. Agent, Olga Kurylenko as Antonia Dreykov/Taskmaster, David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr/Ghost, Louis-Dreyfus as Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Harrison Ford as President Thaddeus Ross, Pullman as Sentry, and Geraldine Viswanathan as Erin. Laurence Fishburne and Rachel Weisz are confirmed to reprise their roles as scientist Bill Foster and spy Melina Vostakov.
Produced by Kevin Feige, Brian Chapek, Matthew Jenkins, and David J. Grant. Andrew Droz Palermo replaces Steve Yedlin as the cinematographer for ‘Thunderbolts’ due to scheduling conflicts.
‘Thunderbolts*’ will hit theaters on May 2, 2025.
