Lee Cronin’s The Mummy reboot has been officially retitled The Resurrected. Produced by New Line Cinema and Blumhouse/Atomic Monster, the 2026 horror film follows a family haunted by an ancient evil after their daughter mysteriously disappears and a cursed body is unearthed years later.

The upcoming Lee Cronin’s The Mummy reboot movie has been retitled The Resurrected. The film, developed by New Line Cinema and Blumhouse/Atomic Monster, is releasing in April 2026.

Following the title change, the plot details for the movie have been revealed. Here it is:

A respectable family is shaken by an ancestral terror when their young daughter, Katie, mysteriously disappears after accepting a sinister gift from a strange woman.

Eight years later, hope and fear reunite at the site of an airplane crash, where a damaged sarcophagus is discovered. The body found inside, which eerily resembles the missing girl, awakens and brings with it an evil curse and a supernatural force that defies all logic.

As the entity manifests, the family must race against time to uncover the truth behind an ancient cult and stop the evil from spreading before the possession consumes everyone around them.

Lee Cronin’s The Mummy reboot has been officially retitled The Resurrected. Produced by New Line Cinema and Blumhouse/Atomic Monster, the 2026 horror film follows a family haunted by an ancient evil after their daughter mysteriously disappears and a cursed body is unearthed years later.

The Resurrected stars Jack Reynor, Laia Costa, Verónica Falcón, May Calamawy, May Elghety, Natalie Grace, Shylo Molina, Billie Roy, and Hayat Kamille.

Filming for The Resurrected began in March 2025 in Ireland, followed by additional shoots in Spain, and wrapped production in June 2025. After entering post-production, a test screening reportedly took place, with early viewers claiming the film was “really bad.”

The film is written and directed by Cronin, with Aquaman director James Wan serving as a producer.

During a statement when production began, Cronin told THR, “This will be unlike any Mummy movie you’ve ever laid eyes on before. I’m digging deep into the earth to raise something very ancient and very frightening.”

Atomic Monster and Blumhouse are co-financing the film, with Wan, Jason Blum, and John Keville producing. Executive producers include Michael Clear, Judson Scott, and Macdara Kelleher, while Alayna Glasthal oversees the project for Atomic Monster.

The Resurrected is scheduled to be released in the United States on April 17, 2026, by Warner Bros. Pictures.
