(Warning: Spoilers Ahead!)
Loki season 2, Episode 1, titled “Ouroboros,” is now available to stream on Disney+. In this episode, Loki (played by Tom Hiddleston) begins time-slipping after the events of the first season’s finale. He’s determined to find Mobius (played by Owen Wilson) to uncover the truth.
Meanwhile, during a council meeting, Hunter X-5 (played by Rafael Casal) and Mobius debated and confirmed that the Time Variance Authority (TVA) was wrong in pruning variants.
The council makes a sudden announcement to cease pruning immediately, but Loki appears and prunes the TVA board, revealing everyone’s face to be that of Kang the Conqueror (played by Jonathan Majors).
Loki explains he was expelled by Sylvie (played by Sophia Di Martino) through a Time Door, prompting the TVA to order a search for Sylvie. Loki tells Mobius they need to confront the person at the end of time, as more of them are coming. According to Loki, a war is imminent, and preserving the sacred timeline through pruning was actually preventing more versions of Kang from emerging.
Mobius was curious about how Loki had time-slipped, but Loki didn’t have an answer. So, Mobius decided to seek help from Ouroboros, also known as “OB” (played by Ke Huy Quan). Mobius introduced OB to Loki and, suddenly, Loki time-slipped to OB’s past to explain the issue. OB revealed that they needed a Temporal Aura Extractor to fix the time slip in the TVA, and Loki suggested removing himself from every timeline.
OB discovered that timelines were branching, causing the time slip. To resolve this, OB asked Mobius to go out and activate the extractor so that Loki could prune himself.
As Loki, OB, and Mobius were about to launch the extractor, Loki unexpectedly time-slipped into the future and couldn’t find a way to escape. In a moment of panic, Loki believed he was lost in time. However, Sylvie suddenly appeared and helped him prune himself. In the end, all the TVA members joined forces to pursue Sylvie.
Overall, Loki Season 2, Episode 1, titled “Ouroboros,” delivers a fantastic time-travel adventure and stands out as one of the best entries in the MCU’s series.
