For fans of M3GAN, the sequel titled ‘M3GAN 2.0‘ has officially begun production, as confirmed by producer Jason Blum. Filming is now taking place in New Zealand.
On X (Twitter), Blum shared the production news and footage of M3GAN being recreated. He wrote, “Time to put M3GAN back together. We are back in production in New Zealand.” See the post below.
Gerard Johnstone is returning to direct the sequel, with a screenplay penned by Akela Cooper, who wrote the first film. The returning cast includes Allison Williams as Gemma, Violet McGraw as Cady, Jenna Davis as the voice of Megan, Brian Jordan Alvarez as Cole, and Jen Van Epps as Tess. Deadline confirms that newcomers Ivanna Sakhno, Timm Sharp, Aristotle Athari, and Jemaine Clement will join the ensemble.
Plot details for the sequel are yet to be revealed, but ‘M3GAN 2.0’ promises an upgraded version of the vengeful AI. How will Gemma stop her this time?
Blum, James Wan, and Allison Williams are producers of ‘M3GAN 2.0.’ Executive producers include Michael Clear and Judson Scott from Wan’s Atomic Monster banner, Ryan Turek from Blumhouse, Mark Katchur, and Adam Hendricks, and Greg Gilreath from Divide/Conquer.
Recently, Atomic Monster and Blumhouse announced a new film set in the ‘M3GAN’ universe titled ‘SOULM8TE‘ — described as a 1990s erotic thriller “with a new technological twist.” Kate Dolan will direct, having rewritten an original draft by Rafael Jordan, with the story by James Wan, Ingrid Bisu, and Jordan. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on January 2, 2026 — distributed by Universal Pictures.
‘M3GAN 2.0’ is set to be released in the United States by Universal Pictures on June 27, 2025.
