Marvel Studios and Sony reportedly had talks about Miguel O’Hara (Spider-Man 2099) forming an alliance with a Kang variant in the MCU. The storyline would have featured “power for Kang, stability for Miguel.” However, the plans fell through as Sony reportedly thought Marvel using Miguel was “a huge ask.”
According to X platform insider Cryptic HD QUALITY, “Miguel’s knowledge and experience with the multiverse (Spider-Verse) would’ve seen a Kang variant forming an alliance with him. Power for Kang, stability for Miguel. Some time back, I heard that Marvel wanted this alliance, but Sony thought Miguel was a huge ask.”
“Though this is most likely not happening again (you know why), I heard Miguel O’Hara is still on the table and that there’s a great possibility he could make a live-action debut in the near future with a new team,” the insider added.

Miguel was introduced in ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse‘ as the leader of the Spider-Society, a multiversal group that aims to maintain the “canon.” What Miguel is trying to do is similar to what Kang also wants: control over the entire timeline of the multiverse. Currently, Sony’s biggest Spider-Man universe films are the animated ‘Spider-Verse’ movies. If they connect them with the MCU, they may feel they have nothing more to offer.
