A new official TV spot for Marvel’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps has been released during the NBA Playoffs.
The teaser features a retro-style introduction of Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm as they receive an emergency alert on their watches and head toward the Baxter Building. Watch it below.
Deadline recently reported that The Fantastic Four: First Steps will not be an origin story; instead, the film will begin four years after the team becomes heroes.
In a recent interview, director Matt Shakman shared his inspiration for The Fantastic Four: First Steps:
“I’m not so much looking at the other movies—I’m looking at the comics themselves. I’m a huge comic book fan, and I’ve been a big fan of the Fantastic Four since I was a kid. So I’ve gone back to [Jack] Kirby, [Stan] Lee, [John] Byrne, and followed the evolution all the way up to what’s happening now—certainly [Jonathan] Hickman, [Mark] Waid, and Ryan North and what he’s been doing.
I’m trying to figure out who these characters are to me and how to bring them to life in the best possible way. That’s really where I started and how we’ve approached it.”

Shakman confirmed the film is set apart from the main MCU timeline:
“We are our own universe… Eventually, this world will meet up with other worlds, but for now, this is our own little corner.”
Here’s the plot details for The Fantastic Four: First Steps:
Opening in theaters July 25, Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: First Steps introduces Reed Richards / Mister Fantastic (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm / Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny Storm / Human Torch (Joseph Quinn), and Ben Grimm / The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) as they face their most daunting challenge yet.
Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). And if Galactus’ plan to devour the entire planet — and everyone on it — weren’t bad enough, it suddenly gets very personal.
The film also stars Paul Walter Hauser, John Malkovich, Natasha Lyonne, and Sarah Niles. Directed by Shakman, produced by Kevin Feige, and executive produced by Louis D’Esposito, Grant Curtis, and Tim Lewis.
The film is produced by Kevin Feige, Grant Curtis, and Nick Pepin.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps hits theaters and IMAX on July 25, 2025.
