Marvel Studios had early plans to bring together Wanda Maximoff (Scarlet Witch) and Erik Lehnsherr (Magneto) in the Avengers films.
According to Alex Perez (via The Cosmic Circus), Marvel had an idea involving Wanda Maximoff and Magneto for the Avengers films. This concept was inspired by the 2008 animated series Wolverine and the X-Men, which Marvel boss Kevin Feige also produced.
Unfortunately, the concept was scrapped due to Marvel’s decision to move toward a soft reboot of the MCU. However, there is a chance it could still be linked to the multiverse and the upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars storyline.
Alex hinted that Scarlet Witch’s return after Secret Wars is possible. However, Marvel is reportedly preparing Billy and Tommy (Wiccan and Speed) for larger roles in the MCU’s future, as they focus on the next generation of heroes in the MCU.
In a recent interview with TODAY, Elizabeth Olsen spoke about her MCU future as Wanda. She said, “Well, if someone hasn’t seen Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, I did die.”
A Champions series is in development at Disney+. It stars Hailee Steinfeld returning as Kate Bishop, Kathryn Newton as Cassie Lang, Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams, Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan, Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez, and Joe Locke as Billy Kaplan.
Synopsis: “After a devastating event, mysterious teen heroes emerge, calling themselves the Young Avengers. But who are these young vigilantes, and what gives them the right to use that name?”
The upcoming Avengers: Doomsday is currently in production. Directed by Russo brothers from a screenplay by their longtime collaborator, Stephen McFeely. Newton Thomas Sigel (Bohemian Rhapsody, X-Men: Days of Future Past) will be the cinematographer.
Marvel President Kevin Feige revealed at CinemaCon 2025 that Avengers: Doomsday will focus on the Avengers, Wakandans, Fantastic Four, the New Avengers (Thunderbolts), and the original X-Men all uniting to fight Doctor Doom (Robert Downey Jr.).
Avengers: Doomsday will hit theaters on December 18, 2026, and Avengers: Secret Wars has also been delayed to December 17, 2027.
