Marvel Studios is rumored to be recasting T’Challa in the MCU, a role originally portrayed by Chadwick Boseman, who passed away from cancer in 2020.
According to Jeff Sneider’s The InSneider Report, Marvel is rumored to be looking for an actor to play T’Challa in Avengers: Doomsday, Avengers: Secret Wars, and Black Panther 3. The studio offered the role to an actor last year, but he turned it down.
During the TODAY Show, Denzel Washington revealed that he will star in Black Panther 3. Ryan Coogler, who directed the Black Panther movies, is currently writing a role for him in the third film.
Also, at the 2023 Golden Globes, Letitia Wright told Variety, “‘Black Panther 3’ is already in the works.”
Wright said, “I think it’s already in the works… It’s gonna take a while, but I’m really excited for you guys to see that.”
Nate Moore, a longtime executive at Marvel Studios, is transitioning to producing outside the MCU next year. In a joint statement, Kevin Feige and Louis D’Esposito praised Nate Moore, calling him a fantastic executive, colleague, and friend. While Marvel Studios will miss him, they look forward to watching his future projects and working with him in a new capacity on Black Panther 3.
In their statement (Via Deadline), Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige and Louis D’Esposito said, “Nate is a fantastic executive and colleague as well as a wonderful friend to all of us here at Marvel Studios. He has been a core member of our team since 2010, and his influence will continue to reverberate in our storytelling.”
“Although we’ll miss him a great deal, we look forward to watching what he does next while also having the good fortune of working with him in a new way on our next Black Panther movie.”
In the end credits of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, T’Challa’s son—also named T’Challa—was introduced as a child. Who will play the next T’Challa? Let’s wait for an update.
