Marvel Studios Japan has released a new update about the upcoming movie ‘The Marvels.’
In the film, Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan) is a big fan of Marvel, decorating her room with portraits and illustrations. They all encounter a mysterious event where their powers cause them to switch with others. Additionally, a new enemy with a grudge against Captain Marvel emerges, prompting them to join forces as a team to face the impending crisis.
Captain Marvel: The Indomitable Hero Battling the Annihilator
Captain Marvel, also known as Carol Danvers, is the Avengers’ most powerful hero, having even defeated their toughest foe, Thanos. She’s targeted by a mysterious enemy called the “annihilator” due to her past and vows of revenge. She gained her extraordinary powers and indomitable spirit after losing her memories as a U.S. Air Force pilot in an accident. As Captain Marvel, she protects numerous planets, including those without heroes.
Ms. Marvel: The Enthusiastic High School Hero of a New Generation
Ms. Marvel, also known as Kamala Khan, is a high school hero who acquired her powers from her grandmother’s bangle. She’s a dedicated Avengers enthusiast with a special admiration for Captain Marvel. Kamala is a high school student who fully embraces her love for the Avengers and her hobbies. She represents the new generation of heroes, empowered by her grandmother’s bangle.
Photon: The Loyal Agent Awaiting Captain Marvel’s Return
Photon, also known as Monica Rambeau, is a skilled agent stationed on the space station S.A.B.E.R. under Nick Fury’s command. Her powers were awakened due to her involvement in a particular incident. She holds a deep affection for Captain Marvel, considering her as family, and has been eagerly awaiting her return to Earth.
Monica is the daughter of Maria Rambeau, who was Captain Marvel’s companion in the Air Force before Carol Danvers lost her memory. Much like her mother, she cherished Carol. Following her disappearance due to Thanos’ “finger snap,” Monica was resurrected and resumed her role as an agent, working with the government agency S.W.O.R.D. (Sentient Weapon Observation and Response Department).
“A scene that can be seen as the “moment of team formation” has been released for the first time, showing Kamala shaking hands with Carol who can’t hide her happiness, and Monica looking at them from behind with a satisfied look on her face. At first glance, this heartwarming scene appears to be the start of a team with great chemistry, but in the trailers released so far, Kamala asks, “Are we forming a team?” and Carol dismisses it, saying, “It’s impossible.” In the first place, Captain Marvel has been working alone for a long time, protecting a wide range of planets other than Earth where there are no heroes. Will the “solitary hero”, who has often been gently complained to by the “Avengers” led by Black Widow about his lack of teamplay, really be able to form a team?? And what kind of power does the team really have?”
Directed by Nia DaCosta, the film also holds the record of being the most expensive movie ever directed by a black woman, surpassing Ava DuVernay’s ‘A Wrinkle In Time’. The film stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, and Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Park Seo-joon, Zawe Ashton, Saagar Shaikh, Zenobia Shroff, and Mohan Kapur. The film also brings back Goose, the Flerken.
In The Marvels, Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe. When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team up and learn to work in concert to save the universe as “The Marvels.”
Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. ‘The Marvels’ hits theaters on November 10, 2023.
