Marvel Studios is reportedly planning to give Chris Hemsworth‘s Thor a proper send-off in “an epic way” in an upcoming Avengers film.
According to a Q&A with Lizzie Hill from The Cosmic Circus, Marvel is preparing a meaningful and epic farewell for Thor. The storyline is said to draw inspiration from New Avengers (Vol. 3) #32. While this could mark the end of Hemsworth’s run as Thor, it doesn’t rule out the character’s return in future projects.
It is reported that Thor is expected to reunite with Loki (Tom Hiddleston) during the upcoming Avengers films. Also, there is a chance that Marvel may connect the Thor Corps and other elements of Thor’s mythology in Secret Wars and future stories.
Will There Be a Thor 5?

Marvel Studios has already planned a fifth installment for Thor. A report from insider Alex Perez states that Thor 5 will include Valhalla, the afterlife for fallen warriors. The Thor Corps will appear, showcasing different versions of Thor from various universes. Hercules and Ares will also have major roles, either as rivals or allies.
Possibly, Valhalla will be revisited in the story, where Thor will gain extraordinary new powers. Beta Ray Bill and the Thor Corps will be introduced through multiversal events, and Amora the Enchantress will make an appearance, tying into Secret Wars.
Hemsworth is currently in the United Kingdom filming Avengers: Doomsday. The film will mark the beginning of the end for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). As the multiverse teeters on the brink of total collapse, the Avengers must reunite to face their greatest threat yet—incursions, catastrophic collisions between realities that threaten to annihilate the entire multiverse. Earth’s Mightiest Heroes must race against time to save their reality while confronting the powerful force behind it all: Victor Von Doom (Robert Downey Jr.).
The film is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, from a screenplay by their longtime collaborator Stephen McFeely.
The film stars Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Hiddleston as Loki, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Danny Ramirez as Falcon, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Winston Duke as M’Baku, Hemsworth as Thor, Letitia Wright as Black Panther, Tenoch Huerta Mejía as Namor, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent, and Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost. Ian McKellen as Magneto, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Romijn as Mystique, James Marsden as Cyclops, Kelsey Grammer as Beast, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, and Channing Tatum as Gambit. Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm (Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm (Human Torch), Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm (The Thing), and Lewis Pullman as Sentry.
Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on May 1, 2026.
