Marvel Studios is reportedly developing an R-rated Wolverine vs. Hulk movie, as confirmed by scooper MyTimeToShineHello on X (formerly Twitter).
In Marvel’s ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ there is a hint about Hugh Jackman‘s Wolverine and the Hulk fighting in a shared universe, while Ryan Reynolds‘ Deadpool tries to get help from Wolverine. I think the movie will take place in that universe.
During the premiere of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ Marvel President Kevin Feige, speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, said there will be more R-rated Marvel projects in the MCU.
Feige said, “It would have been inappropriate if it wouldn’t have been rated R.” Feige added, “If we encounter a character like that, there’s a few we can think of where that’s in the DNA of the character, then we’ll do that.”
In Marvel Comics, Wolverine and Hulk have clashed in several issues, including ‘The Incredible Hulk’ #180-182, ‘Wolverine’ #8 and #145, ‘Ultimate Wolverine vs. Hulk,’ and ‘Old Man Logan.’ Their dynamic is akin to Godzilla vs. Kong. We can expect an update from Marvel soon.
In an interview with Variety, Mark Ruffalo, who plays Bruce Banner/Hulk, discussed the future of his role. He mentioned that there’s an idea for an interesting project potentially in the works, saying, ‘Maybe Hulk and Wolverine could hook up.’
There are a few projects already in the development stage, including the ‘Blade’ reboot, ‘Midnight Sons,’ and more. We will get a full update during Marvel Studios’ big Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2024. According to Nexus Point News, Michael Green, the writer of the upcoming ‘Blade‘ reboot movie, is set to pen the script for ‘Midnight Sons‘.
‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is now playing in theaters.
