Marvel’s ‘Avengers: Secret Wars‘ is likely setting up a soft reboot for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) within Earth-199999. Serving as a send-off to both the Fox-Verse and the existing MCU, leading to the introduction of a new and different MCU. Marvel President Kevin Feige will announce it soon.
MCU’s Soft Reboot and 20-Year Evolution
‘Secret Wars’ is expected to serve as a subtle MCU reboot, similar to DC’s ‘The Flash’ impact on the DCU. The MCU journey began with 2008’s ‘Iron Man,’ starring Robert Downey Jr., and now, ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ set to release on May 7, 2027, will commemorate a 20-year MCU legacy.
‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ is a sequel to previous Avengers movies, including “The Avengers,” “Age of Ultron,” “Infinity War,” “Endgame,” and “The Kang Dynasty.” The film is the forty-sixth installment in the MCU, serving as the final chapter of Phase Six and The Multiverse Saga.
The script is penned by Michael Waldron, and the director has not yet been announced. Reports indicate that Hugh Jackman‘s Wolverine will play a “major part” in the storyline, which picks up after the events of ‘Deadpool 3‘. Kang the Conqueror, played by Jonathan Majors, is set to be the main villain in “Secret Wars.” It’s unclear if the movie will follow the well-known 1980s storyline where the Beyonder brought Marvel characters to Battleworld. That storyline had a big impact, leading to Venom’s creation.
