Marvel’s ‘Blade‘ film, scheduled for 2025, aims for a budget of less than $100 million. The film’s plot is set in the year 1920.
Mahershala Ali’s ‘Blade’ Role Saved by Script Rewrite
Variety reveals that Mahershala Ali almost left the ‘Blade’ project due to script concerns, with an early version placing Blade as the fourth lead. However, Marvel’s Kevin Feige has taken action by bringing in Oscar-nominated writer Michael Green from ‘Logan‘ to rework the script. With these changes, the film is now set to move forward with a budget of less than $100 million.
The filming will begin in the fall of 2023 after the SAG-AFTRA strike ends. Directed by Yann Demange and written by Michael Starrbury, Nic Pizzolatto, and Green. The film stars Ali in the titular role. Ali reprises his role as Eric Brooks/Blade from the previous Blade films. The cast also includes Delroy Lindo as Deacon Frost, John West Jr. as DEE, Aaron Pierre, Mia Goth, and Milan Ray.
We reported that Goth is rumored to play Dracula’s daughter Lilith Drake, the main villain in ‘Blade’.
The film is a reboot of the franchise and the 36th film in the MCU. Produced by Feige, Eric Hauserman Carroll, Louis D’Esposito, and Bassam Tariq.
‘Blade’ hits theaters on November 7, 2025.
