The negative reviews for Marvel’s Captain America: Brave New World haven’t impacted the movie’s box office performance. The film earned $192.4 million globally on its opening weekend, marking the second-highest domestic debut for a Captain America movie. With a production budget of $180 million, the film is off to a strong start. The film needs to make $425 million worldwide to break even.

The film has grossed an estimated $88.5 million domestically over the three-day weekend from 4,105 locations. Its estimated four-day Valentine’s Day/Presidents Day weekend total is $100 million, with an additional $92.4 million earned internationally. The estimated global total through Sunday stands at $180.9 million.

Captain America: Brave New World has grossed an estimated $18.0 million globally on IMAX screens through Monday.

In Captain America: Brave New World, after executing a successful mission in Mexico, Sam (Mackie) and his partner Joaquin/Falcon (Ramirez) are invited to the White House to meet with President Ross (Ford). He asks Sam, the new Captain America, to reconstitute the Avengers Initiative. However, they almost immediately square off on opposite sides when an assassination attempt occurs.
