What is the premise of ‘Deadpool 3,’ and how does it connect to the events after the Loki Season 2 finale?
The events of Deadpool 3 take place after the Loki season 2 finale. The TVA got word that the Kangs were gathering and a new Multiversal War was about to start so they created an army of Multiversal heroes, mostly from dying worlds, to fight the Council of Kangs. Mr. Paradox takes over from Mobius, who may still have a cameo but is not a central part of this story (he’ll return fully in the Avengers films). Mr. Paradox attempts to recruit Wolverine. Deadpool, currently a prisoner at the TVA for temporal mischief, catches wind of the plan and escapes. Deadpool’s new objective is to persuade Wolverine to join him, expecting a BFF relationship.
‘Deadpool 3’ is directed by Shawn Levy. In the film, Ryan Reynolds will reprise his role as Wade Wilson/Deadpool, alongside Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Karan Soni as Dopinder, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa Carlysle, Stefan Kapičić as Piotr Rasputin/Colossus, Rob Delaney as Peter, Shioli Kutsuna as Yukio, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, and new additions Emma Corrin and Matthew Macfadyen. The script is penned by Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, Zeb Wells, Reynolds, and Levy. Recently, The first look at Ryan Reynolds in the Deadpool costume for Marvel’s ‘Deadpool 3‘ has leaked online.
Back in July 2023, ‘Deadpool 3’ filming was halted due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. There are about 2 months of filming remaining before the production can be finished. According to Deadline, ‘Deadpool 3’ will resume filming next week, as 50% of the shooting is yet to be done. Levy has indicated that the film is currently at the halfway point in terms of filming and editing, with roughly 35 days of filming left. Levy said, “Right now we are paused from shooting ‘Deadpool 3,’ so we have been editing what we did manage to shoot, so we’re together a lot, probably an unhealthy amount.”
According to the film’s plot: In Deadpool 3, Wade Wilson/Deadpool is arrested for time crimes involving Cable’s device in Deadpool 2. The TVA returns Cable to his original time and confiscates his time travel technology. Deadpool gets leniency and helps the TVA on a mission. Wanda’s spirit inhabits another Wanda’s body, leading to a new world where Magneto rules and mutants are the majority. Logan hijacks the TVA device to change history and ends up in different Fox worlds. Deadpool enlists Fox’s (X-men) heroes in a fight against Magneto, resulting in chaos and casualties. Wanda is depowered and banished by the TVA, and Deadpool and others are sent to the main MCU timeline. Logan searches for mutants while Deadpool finds Blind Al in his bed.
‘Deadpool 3’ hits theaters on July 26, 2024.
