Marvel’s Deadpool & Wolverine originally had a scrapped opening that would have begun with the TVA arresting Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) for tampering with Cable’s time machine. While imprisoned by the TVA, Wade overhears plans to recruit “Anchor Beings” from across the multiverse to build an army against the Kangs.
Recently, scooper MyTimeToShineHello shared details about the original plan for Deadpool & Wolverine.
The movie was supposed to start with the TVA arresting Wade for messing with Cable’s time machine. While in TVA custody, he overhears that the organization is seeking Anchor Beings from across the multiverse to create an army to fight the Kangs and that they were searching for a version of Logan.
Wade decides to escape and find the Ultimate version of Logan before they do, bringing him to his world to be his best friend forever, since he had tried to be BFFs with him for years and the Logan from his own universe is now dead.

From there, the plot is largely similar to what we ultimately got, with the pair traveling through the multiverse, which would have provided a more logical explanation for the Avengers Tower scene with Happy Hogan. In the end, they still wind up in The Void, and from there the story mostly follows the same path. Johnny Storm trash-talking Cassandra Nova was originally planned as the ending.
The original post-credits scene was meant to show Deadpool returning to Avengers Tower and finally meeting Tony Stark, only to be rejected.
Deadpool & Wolverine was produced on a $200 million budget and delivered the biggest opening ever for an R-rated film, earning over $211 million. The film went on to gross $636.7 million domestically and $701.3 million internationally, bringing its worldwide box office total to more than $1.3 billion.
Recently, Puck reported that Marvel Studios is developing Deadpool 4. Reynolds is reportedly focused on developing the next Deadpool movie.
Deadpool & Wolverine is now available to stream on Disney+.
