Marvel’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps will reportedly feature a rapid montage in the first act, showing the team facing off against multiple low-level villains.
What can we expect in the opening of The Fantastic Four: First Steps?
According to Alex Perez’s November Q&A (via The Cosmic Circus), the opening of The Fantastic Four: First Steps includes a rapid montage of the team taking on several lesser-known villains from their classic rogues’ gallery, with Mole Man making a brief appearance among them.
It is also rumored that, after Avengers: Secret Wars, a soft reboot is expected. The Fantastic Four and X-Men characters may merge into the primary Marvel timeline. The rebooted universe may bring about a “new iteration” of the Multiverse — where events of the past may or may not be remembered by all characters. Characters like Doctor Strange or Deadpool might retain memories of previous events — while others remain unaware of the changes.
During D23 Brazil, Marvel President Kevin Feige revealed that The Fantastic Four: First Steps has only a few weeks of filming left. Also, a first-look special footage was screened to the attendees.
Directed by Matt Shakman from the original script penned by Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer, which has undergone a rewrite by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber. In the film, Pedro Pascal plays Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing, and Ralph Ineson as Galactus. Julia Garner is set to portray a female Silver Surfer, with Paul Walter Hauser and John Malkovich as Ivan Kragoff. Additionally, characters yet to be cast include Mole Man and H.E.R.B.I.E.
The film is produced by Feige, Grant Curtis, and Nick Pepin.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps will hit theaters on July 25, 2025.
