A new featurette for Marvel’s Secret Invasion has been released by USA TODAY. The series brings the concept of aliens infiltrating Earth to live and explores a full-fledged invasion by the shapeshifting, green-skinned Skrulls. Ben Mendelsohn, known for his Emmy-winning performance in “Bloodline” and his role in “Captain Marvel,” reteams with Samuel L. Jackson, who plays the iconic character Nick Fury in the MCU. Secret Invasion is set to make its mark as the ninth installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) lineup. Created by Kyle Bradstreet exclusively for Disney+. Bradstreet serves as the head writer with Ali Selim directing.
According to the Disney+ logline, in Secret Invasion, set in the present-day MCU, Fury learns of a clandestine invasion of Earth by a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls. Fury joins his allies, including Everett Ross, Maria Hill, and the Skrull Talos, who have made a life for himself on Earth. Together, they race against time to thwart an imminent Skrull invasion and save humanity.
The series stars Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill, Kingsley Ben-Adir as Gravik, Emilia Clarke as G’iah, Olivia Colman as Sonya Falsworth, Don Cheadle as James “Rhodey” Rhodes, and Martin Freeman as Everett K. Ross.
Secret Invasion will premiere on June 21, 2023, on Disney+.
