Marvel’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day will feature around eight villains who will fight Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man in the movie.
According to scooper MyTimeToShineHello, Jon Bernthal’s Punisher will reportedly team up with a female partner in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The mystery character has not yet been disclosed.
The scooper revealed that “in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, there are about eight, including Punisher, his partner, and Hulk, along with the other villains in the film.“

There are rumors that Rachel Cole-Alves could be the Punisher’s female partner in Brand New Day. In Marvel Comics, Rachel first appeared in The Punisher Vol. 9 #1 (2011) as a U.S. Marine sergeant. On her wedding day, her entire wedding party was massacred during a mob shootout, leaving her as the sole survivor. Driven by revenge, she crossed paths with Frank Castle and became his ally, adopting his methods of vigilante justice.
Insider Daniel Richtman recently reported, “The Punisher is reportedly set to have the biggest role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day among the other heroes.“

In a recent Collider interview, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirmed the Punisher will appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, with a tone different from the darker TV version.
Feige said, “When Punisher is in the Spider-Man movie, it’ll be a different tonality.” He added, “I think there’s a promise at the end of No Way Home, that for as sad as it is that Peter is forgotten by everyone in his life, we are seeing, for the first time in the Tom Holland Spider-Man stories, him being a proper Spider-Man—being by himself, dedicated to saving the city, and dealing with, for lack of better terms, street-level crime as opposed to world-ending events… So when you do that, you ask, okay, who are the other street-level characters we’ve never seen him interact with? And of course, I love that the Punisher started in a Spider-Man comic. That great cover… I don’t want to say too much, but Destin—well, I will say too much—Destin is doing an amazing job right now on that movie, which starts shooting very soon. And he’s got eight or nine comic covers up on his wall in his art department that he is bringing to life in this movie, which is super cool.”
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton is directing the film from a screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. The film stars Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, with Zendaya and Jacob Batalon reprising their roles as MJ Watson and Ned Leeds. Sadie Sink joins the cast alongside Bernthal as Frank Castle (a.k.a. The Punisher) and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/The Hulk. Liza Colón-Zayas and Tramell Tillman have also been cast in undisclosed roles, while Michael Mando returns as Mac Gargan from Spider-Man: Homecoming. Additionally, Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova will appear in the movie.
Here’s the new synopsis for Spider-Man: Brand New Day:
After the world has forgotten his name, Peter Parker (Holland) begins a new chapter in his life — balancing college classes, part-time work, and his responsibility as New York’s friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. But when a mysterious force begins to unravel the city from the inside out, Peter finds himself caught between powerful enemies, old legacies, and unexpected allies. As shadows from the past creep into his present, he must redefine what it truly means to be a hero — on his own.
The film is produced by Amy Pascal, Rachel O’Connor, Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Mitch Bell.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to hit theaters and IMAX on July 31, 2026.
