On X, scooper MyTimeToShineHello has shared new rumored Spider-Man: Brand New Day plot details. Here they are:
In Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the main villain is Carrion / the Jackal.

The Jackal has created a genetic virus that lets him control people’s minds. Anyone infected can be taken over by him, and he can move from one body to another. His goal is to take over a strong body because his own body is dying. He wants to save himself and become more powerful. The Jackal makes a deal with Tombstone to help him take control of the Hand. The Hand are looking for a new leader. The Jackal uses his powers to make them believe that the Beast from their old stories has returned and needs a strong body to lead them.
Jean Grey’s powers have only just appeared. Without Xavier to guide her, she has been on the run and living a hard life. Frank helps her meet William Metzger, who says the DODC has made technology that can stop mutant powers. This technology is based on something Bruce Banner created to control the Hulk.
Jean is kept in a DODC facility because William thinks the strange possessions and supernatural events are being caused by a psychic mutant like Jean Grey. The Punisher is briefly taken over, but Jean forces the entity out of him. Her mind is too strong for the Jackal to control, so she stays safe.
The Jackal later takes control of Bruce Banner, but Jean removes his wristband. With Bruce no longer in control, the Hulk comes out fully and goes on a rampage.
The Jackal tries to take over Peter, but fails. The virus is inside Peter, but it does not let the Jackal control him. Instead, it starts changing Peter, giving him organic webs, more strength, better senses, and spider-sense. The Hand want Peter to be the Beast’s host, so they push the Jackal to find a way to control him. The Jackal says Peter might be easier to control if he is weakened.
Scorpion gets a new suit and a special venom made to weaken Spider-Man. During their fight, Peter gets stung by Scorpion. The Jackal then takes control of Peter and presents him to the Hand as their new leader. They plan to kill him and bring him back to life to fully make him one of them.
Later, it is revealed that Jean and Peter planned this. Jean suppresses the Jackal and traps him inside Peter so he cannot jump to other bodies. Spider-Man regains control and fights the Hand, with Jean, Frank, and Daredevil coming to help. Tombstone had a hidden killswitch for the Jackal virus and activates it. Peter becomes weak and starts dying.
Jean can still sense the Jackal inside Peter, so Peter decides to sacrifice himself, believing the Jackal will die with him.
He tells everything to MJ, then goes to Aunt May’s grave and sits there, ready to die.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. The film stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, with Zendaya and Jacob Batalon reprising their roles as MJ Watson and Ned Leeds. Sadie Sink joins the cast alongside Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle (a.k.a. The Punisher) and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/The Hulk. Liza Colón-Zayas and Tramell Tillman, while Michael Mando returns as Mac Gargan from Spider-Man: Homecoming and Marvin Jones III has been confirmed to play the role of Tombstone. Additionally, Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova will appear in the movie.
Here are the plot details for Spider-Man: Brand New Day:
After the record-breaking global success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Spider-Man: Brand New Day marks an entirely new chapter for Peter Parker and Spider-Man.
Four years have passed since the events of No Way Home, and Peter is now an adult living entirely alone, having voluntarily erased himself from the lives and memories of those he loves. Crime-fighting in a New York that no longer knows his name, he has devoted himself entirely to protecting his city — a full-time Spider-Man — but as the demands on him intensify, the pressure sparks a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence, even as a strange new pattern of crimes gives rise to one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced.
The film is produced by Amy Pascal, Rachel O’Connor, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Mitch Bell.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to hit theaters and IMAX on July 31, 2026.
