Thunderbolts Script Change Is Required
Lee Sung Jin, creator and showrunner of Netflix’s “Beef,” is set to rewrite Marvel’s Thunderbolts script. The film’s script was originally written by Marvel veteran Eric Pearson, who previously wrote the script for Black Widow and Thor: Ragnarok. The filming will begin on June 5, and the film will be released on July 26, 2024.
Speaking to Variety during the promotion of “Beef.” Lee told, “I’m rewriting it.” Lee added, “It’s the whole squad again. Jake asked me if I would come on board. I probably should have taken a break, but there’s a lot of themes and exciting things about the movie that I couldn’t help but sign on.”
He continued, “It’s truly an honor to be part of a Marvel thing, but it is very different. One, it’s not my project, it’s Jake’s. It’s such a large scope and scale that the type of writing is very different. At the same time, the process feels the same, I’m still talking to Jake every day. … I think once you find the squad of people you love and trust and are so talented, you do everything you can to keep working with them.”
Directed by Jake Schreier. The film stars Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Wyatt Russell as John Walker/U.S. Agent, Olga Kurylenko as Antonia Dreykov/Taskmaster, David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr/Ghost, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Harrison Ford as President Thaddeus Ross, Ayo Edebiri, and Steven Yeun.

The original team consisted of Baron Zemo, Beetle, Fixer, Goliath, MACH-1, Moonstone, and Songbird. The Thunderbolts have been both allies and enemies of various Marvel superheroes.
Thunderbolts is coming to theaters on July 26, 2024.
