Finally, Matt Reeves has completed the script for The Batman: Part II.
According to Matthew Belloni’s report on Puck, Reeves is set to deliver the Batman: Part II script to DC Studios on Monday, June 23, 2025. Filming is scheduled to begin in January 2026.
On Threads, DC Studios co-head James Gunn says that only five people know the details of the script for The Batman: Part II. He added, “Any story or character leaks you’ve ever heard are false or a lucky guess.”

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Gunn said, “We’re supposed to get a script in June. I hope that happens. We feel really good about it.” He added, “Matt’s excited. I talk to Matt all the time. I’m totally excited about it. So we can’t wait to read the script, but we haven’t read it yet, if that’s your question. People should get off Matt’s case, because it’s like—let the guy write the screenplay in the amount of time he needs. That’s just the way it is. He doesn’t owe you something just because you like his movie. I mean, you like his movie because of Matt. So let Matt do things the way he does.”
In an interview with SFX Magazine, Reeves said that The Batman: Part II will introduce a new mystery that explores corruption even further. He added that the story builds upon the first film.
Reeves said, “It’s another mystery that’s going to dig into the epic story of deeper corruption, and it goes into places that he couldn’t even anticipate in the first one. The seeds of where this goes are all in the first movie.”
Speaking to HERO Magazine, Robert Pattinson joked that he started as young Batman and will be old Batman by the time The Batman: Part II arrives.
Pattinson said, “I fking hope so. [laughs] I started out as young Batman, and I’m going to be fking old Batman by the sequel.”
He also confirmed that Reeves is currently writing the script. Pattinson added, “Matt [Reeves] is a very careful writer, but I finally now know what it’s about. It’s very cool, and I’m very excited.”
In the film, Pattinson will return as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin, and Cristin Milioti as Sofia Falcone.
The film is not part of the DC universe being developed by Gunn and Peter Safran, though they are overseeing the project.
The Batman: Part II is currently scheduled to hit theaters on October 1, 2027, via Warner Bros. Pictures.
