‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One’ Ends Domestic Run with Disappointing $172M, Marks Year’s Biggest Flop

‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One‘ concluded its domestic run with $172 million, marking one of the year’s biggest flops. Internationally, it grossed $393 million, bringing the worldwide total to $566 million against a $220 million budget.

In 2023, Paramount Pictures faced financial losses from movies like ‘Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves‘ and ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.’ Even though ‘Transformers: Rise of the Beasts‘ was a flop, it managed to break even but remains the lowest-grossing film in the franchise. The year was challenging for Paramount, much like 2022. However, there were some successes, including ‘Scream VI‘ and ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem.’

Directed by Christopher McQuarrie and co-written by McQuarrie and Erik Jendresen, the film stars Tom Cruise as the iconic character Ethan Hunt. The film’s sequel, ‘Dead Reckoning Part Two,’ will be released on June 28, 2024.
