A recent reveal from a Marvel insider detailed the original plans for the classic Marvel villain MODOK in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. We could have gotten a comic-accurate version. However, in the final film, MODOK is revealed to be a distorted version of Yellowjacket, Ant-Man’s first nemesis, played by Corey Stoll.

On Facebook, Constantine Sekeris, a visual artist who worked on Marvel films including Black Panther, Avengers: Endgame, and Deadpool & Wolverine, shared images of his original design for MODOK, which was supposed to be used in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

In the images below, you can see early concepts that point to a darker or more traditional take on MODOK before creative changes were made.

Sekeris said, “[I’m] posting today some very early design exploration on MODOK from Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” read the artist’s post. “I was working at Marvel Studios at that time in visual development. Andy Park led this project and was very kind to bring on board his very talented team. Andy allowed me to do some early exploration designs on MODOK, and what a fun character to bring to life. You can see in these renders him with his weapons out in attack mode and also retracted back into his body.”

Sekeris added, “Everyone on board did stunning design work on him,” concluding the post. “The talented @anthonyfrancisco ended up with the final design in the film. Always a pleasure to work on such amazing projects and humbled by all the great work by the team.”

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is the 31st entry in the MCU, directed by Peyton Reed and written by Jeff Loveness. The film stars Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly and follows the heroes as they are pulled into the Quantum Realm and confront Kang the Conqueror.

Rudd’s Scott Lang / Ant-Man is also confirmed to appear in Avengers: Doomsday, which is scheduled to hit theaters on December 18, 2026.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is now streaming on Disney+.
