A ‘Wednesday‘ spin-off focused on Uncle Fester is currently under discussion. According to Bloomberg, Netflix is eager to establish an Addams Family universe following the success of the ‘Wednesday’ show.
As per reports, Netflix is also in the process of developing TV spin-offs for popular shows such as Peaky Blinders, Extraction, The Witcher, Money Heist, Stranger Things, and Army of the Dead.
In the Netflix show, Fred Armisen portrays Uncle Fester, Wednesday’s paternal uncle, who possesses the ability to generate static electricity.
Season 2 is currently in pre-production, developing the script, and is set to begin filming in Ireland in late April 2024. Casting for ‘Wednesday’ Season 2 is underway, with some characters already revealed, including Karloff, Wolfgang, and Annie.
The coming-of-age horror comedy’s first season was shot in Romania from September 2021 to March 2022. It premiered on Netflix in November 2022 and was renewed for a second season in January 2023. In Season 2, Jenna Ortega will return as Wednesday Addams, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzman as Gomez Addams, Emma Myers as Enid Sinclair, and Joy Sunday as Bianca Barclay.
‘Wednesday’ Season 1 claims the top spot on Netflix’s Top 10 list for the most popular English-language series, boasting 252 million views—nearly double that of its closest competitor. In July 2023, the series was nominated for 12 Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Contemporary Costumes. Ortega and director Tim Burton both got nods for their work, with respective nominations for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series.
‘Wednesday’ Season 2 will premiere on Netflix in 2025.
