Shazam! Fury of the Gods had an alternate intro sequence. Director David F. Sandberg revealed there is an alternate opening bridge sequence in the Shazam! sequel. It features Billy Batson and his “Shazamily” of foster siblings reaching the collapsing Benjamin Franklin Bridge and saving people. The film is now available on VOD. See the clip below.
According to David F. Sandberg, some of the deleted scenes were cut because the “movie was just too long”. He said, “The first version was like, two and a half hours long, and the test audiences were not quite on board with that.” Watch the film’s deleted clips.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods was released in the United States on March 17, 2023. While the film’s mixed reviews from the critics had a big effect on the film, it was the biggest box office flop that DC ever faced. The film only grossed $132 million worldwide against a production budget of $110–125 million.
The film stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, Rachel Zegler, Adam Brody, Ross Butler, D. J. Cotrona, Grace Caroline Currey, Meagan Good, Lucy Liu, Djimon Hounsou, and Helen Mirren. In the post-credits sequence, Gal Gadot appears as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman.
