Warning: This post contains major spoilers for Marvel’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
In The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Marvel’s Galactus adapts his size to match the scale of a 1960s-inspired retro-futuristic New York City.
New concept art for Galactus in The Fantastic Four: First Steps has been revealed by concept artist and Marvel Studios Head of Visual Development, Ryan Meinerding. See the images below.

Speaking to Variety, Meinerding said, “There was a lot of work on Galactus, trying to figure out the appropriate scale and how he’s going to be experienced for the first time, and we did key frames surrounding that.” He added, “But Galactus was a complete joy to work on. He was challenging to try to get as much detail on. He was meant to be one of those cosmic characters that you almost can’t fully appreciate how big he is. We also stayed close to the Kirby design.”

Recently, Ralph Ineson, who played Galactus in the movie, shared a behind-the-scenes image of himself in the practical Galactus costume on set.

In a recent interview with Screen Rant, Ineson said, “I was shot as a miniature myself. They shot me on a white set, bathed in lots of bright white light so that the image could be blown up and maintain its focus to create this amazing cinematography of the giant Galactus. Honestly, I forgot how we got on that.”
Here’s the plot details for The Fantastic Four: First Steps:
Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: First Steps introduces Reed Richards / Mister Fantastic (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm / Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny Storm / Human Torch (Joseph Quinn), and Ben Grimm / The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) as they face their most daunting challenge yet. Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus (Ineson) and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). And if Galactus’ plan to devour the entire planet — and everyone on it — weren’t bad enough, it suddenly gets very personal.
The film also stars Paul Walter Hauser, John Malkovich, Natasha Lyonne, and Sarah Niles. Directed by Matt Shakman, produced by Kevin Feige, and executive produced by Louis D’Esposito, Grant Curtis, and Tim Lewis.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps is now playing in theaters and has grossed $218 million worldwide in its opening weekend.
