‘Poltergeist’ is a famous 1982 horror film directed by Tobe Hooper and produced and co-written by Steven Spielberg. It follows the Freeling family, who experience increasingly terrifying and unexplained supernatural phenomena in their suburban home. After seeking help from paranormal investigators, they discover their house was built on a cemetery, leading to the abduction of their youngest daughter, Carol Anne, into another dimension. The film is known for its chilling storyline and groundbreaking special effects.
There was a TV series called ‘Poltergeist: The Legacy’ that aired for three seasons on Showtime and had a final season on the Sci-Fi Channel in 1999. It focused on a group called The Legacy who protected people from supernatural dangers. If the Amazon MGM Studios project proceeds, it would be another TV show in the ‘Poltergeist’ world.
