Warner Bros. Pictures has released a new trailer for ‘The Color Purple,’ a film that follows three women with an unbreakable bond. The film is directed by Blitz Bazawule, known for his acclaimed debut feature, “The Burial of Kojo.” Watch the trailer below.
The film stars Taraji P. Henson, Danielle Brooks, Colman Domingo, Corey Hawkins, H.E.R., Halle Bailey, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, and Fantasia Barrino in her first major movie role.
The screenplay is penned by Marcus Gardley, known for “Maid,” based on Alice Walker’s novel and the musical stage play with Marsha Norman’s book and music/lyrics by Brenda Russell, Allee Willis, and Stephen Bray.
Warner Bros. Pictures, in association with Domain Entertainment, Amblin Entertainment, OW Films, SGS Pictures, and QJP Productions, presents ‘The Color Purple.’ The film will be distributed globally by Warner Bros. Pictures and is scheduled to premiere in North American theaters on December 25, 2023, with an international release starting on January 18, 2024.
