Reese Witherspoon is set to star in the Comedy Series ‘All Stars,’ with a big two-season straight-to-series order. The show is a bit like Ted Lasso, and it’s about a former cheerleader who lies her way into teaching cheerleading at a school on the coast of England.
All Stars follows a former Daytona Beach cheerleader (Witherspoon) who swindles her way over the pond to teach cheerleading at a school in coastal England and has to educate a motley crew of children and herself how to be All Stars. The series’ concept, which has a Ted Lasso touch to it, was largely inspired by Andrea Kulberg’s story of an American woman from the South who traveled to the UK to educate British teenagers about cheerleading.
The series is produced by Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine production company, with Lauren Neustadter serving as executive producer. Aline Brosh McKenna, co-creator of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and The Devil Wears Prada, is the show’s creator and showrunner. She will direct the pilot and half of the episodes, as well as executive produce the show under her Lean Machine banner.
