Reese Witherspoon Is Set To Star In The Comedy Series 'All Stars'

Reese Witherspoon is set to star in the comedy series ‘All Stars,’ with a big two-season straight-to-series order. The show is a bit like Ted Lasso, and it’s about a former cheerleader who lies her way into teaching cheerleading at a school on the coast of England.

All Stars follows a former cheerleader Daytona Beach (Witherspoon) who swindles her way over the pond to teach cheerleading at a school in coastal England and has to educate a motley crew of children and herself how to be All Stars.

The series is produced by Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine production company, with Lauren Neustadter serving as executive producer. Aline Brosh McKenna, co-creator of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and The Devil Wears Prada, is the show’s creator and showrunner. She will direct the pilot and half of the episodes, as well as executive produce the show under her Lean Machine banner.

Witherspoon has starred in dramas like Big Little Lies (premiered as a limited series on HBO) and The Morning Show (premiered on Apple TV+), but this will be her first time leading a comedy series. Oscar winner Witherspoon was previously best recognized on TV for her role as Rachel’s (Jennifer Aniston) sister on the popular NBC comedy series Friends.

In a statement Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon and MGM Studios said, “We are beyond excited to continue our fantastic relationship with Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter with this one-of-a-kind comedy, All Stars!.” Salke added, “Aline Brosh McKenna’s pitch delivered it all—originality, an iconic lead character, and tons of fun! There is also a throughline of hope, perseverance, and being true to your authentic self that will resonate everywhere. We are over the moon to work with Reese, Lauren, Aline, and the Hello Sunshine team to bring this series to life for our global Prime Video audience.”

All Stars is Hello Sunshine’s second scripted collaboration with Amazon following “Daisy Jones and the Six,” which premieres on Amazon on March 3.
