Robert Downey Jr. is set for a massive payout for the upcoming Marvel films ‘Avengers: Doomsday‘ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars‘.
According to The InSneider, Marvel Studios will pay Downey Jr. $50 million per movie, with the potential to double that amount based on certain box office incentives.
If the Avengers films have the potential to make $2 billion at the box office, Downey Jr. could earn $200 million. Meanwhile, directors Anthony and Joe Russo will be paid $80 million for both movies.
Downey Jr. says Kevin Feige approached him about the role around a year ago. “I looked into the character [Doctor Doom]… and went, ‘Wow,'” he shared.
I can confirm that Downey Jr. will first appear as Doctor Doom in the upcoming ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps‘. He is reportedly from the same universe as the Fantastic Four.
‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ will hit theaters on July 25, 2025.
Filming for the two ‘Avengers’ movies will begin in London in the second quarter of 2025. Stephen McFeely will pen the script. The Russo Brothers will also produce the two films via their AGBO banner, which is clearly outside the norm for Marvel, as they typically don’t work with outside producers, preferring to keep the team in-house.
‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is set to be released on May 1, 2026, and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ will be released on May 7, 2027.
