(Note: This article contains spoilers for Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday.)
Avengers: Doomsday—featuring the Avengers, Wakandans, Fantastic Four, the New Avengers (Thunderbolts), and the original X-Men—is now in production in London.
According to a report from the QuidVacuo website, Robert Downey Jr. might play an alternate version of Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday. In this version, Doctor Doom secretly causes a conflict between the Avengers and the X-Men. He uses the Avengers to go against the Mutants in order to weaken both teams. His real plan is to reach a powerful energy source that could help him restore his own destroyed universe. This gives his character a more emotional and personal motivation behind his actions.
We already reported that Avengers: Doomsday will reportedly feature Victor Von Doom taking advantage of his resemblance to Tony Stark to present himself as an ally to the MCU.
In a recent interview with BuzzFeed UK, Alan Cumming, who returns as the X-Men’s Nightcrawler in Avengers: Doomsday, revealed that his character will be fighting Pedro Pascal‘s Reed Richards in the movie.

Cumming said, “I’m sort of learning these fights, and I’m like, ‘What? Who am I fighting with?’ [They’re like,] ‘You’re hitting Pedro Pascal on the head.’”
Here’s the plot details for Avengers: Doomsday:
Avengers: Doomsday will mark the beginning of the end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). As the multiverse nears total collapse, the Avengers assemble to face their biggest challenge yet—incursions, catastrophic collisions between realities that could destroy the entire multiverse. Earth’s Mightiest Heroes must race against time to save their reality while confronting the powerful figure behind it all—Victor Von Doom (Downey Jr.).

in the film, Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom isn’t truly evil; he believes he is trying to save the Multiverse from incursions. In his twisted logic, the only way for the Multiverse to survive is to unify all universes in one place (Battleworld) under his rule. He sees this as the sole path to ensuring survival for everyone.
Directed by Russo brothers from a screenplay by their longtime collaborator, Stephen McFeely. Newton Thomas Sigel (Bohemian Rhapsody, X-Men: Days of Future Past) will be the cinematographer.
