Marvel’s Thunderbolts* is now playing in theaters, and director Jake Schreier revealed a surprise in the post-credits scenes.

Schreier confirmed that the Russo Brothers directed and filmed the second post-credits scene of Thunderbolts* on the set of Avengers: Doomsday.

Speaking to Variety, Schreier said, “That was shot maybe four weeks ago, and I did not direct that. That’s the Russos on the set of Avengers: Doomsday. I got to be there, which was very fun — to watch your buddies go on to this grander scale.”

The Russo Brothers said, “if you haven’t seen Thunderbolts*… go now! Jake Schreier made a fantastic film. Congratulations to the entire cast and crew.” They added, “And make sure to stay until the very end of the credits… we left you a little something.”

Avengers: Doomsday is currently filming in London. Most recently, Robert Downey Jr. shared a new photo on Instagram with the cast of Avengers: Doomsday after they all watched Thunderbolts* together.

Downey Jr. wrote, “Just wow!!! Dinner and a show with the Old Avengers. So cool, fresh, and deep. Big congrats to the New Avengers (and Bob).”

Thunderbolts* is directed by Schreier and stars Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Wyatt Russell as John Walker/U.S. Agent, Olga Kurylenko as Antonia Dreykov/Taskmaster, David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr/Ghost, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Lewis Pullman as Sentry, and Geraldine Viswanathan as Mel.

Here’s the synopsis for Thunderbolts*:

“In Thunderbolts*, Marvel Studios assembles an unconventional team of antiheroes — Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, Red Guardian, Ghost, Taskmaster, and John Walker. After finding themselves ensnared in a death trap — set by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine — these disillusioned castoffs must embark on a dangerous mission that will force them to confront the darkest corners of their pasts. Will this dysfunctional group tear themselves apart — or find redemption and unite as something much more — before it’s too late?”

Thunderbolts* was released in the United States on May 2, 2025, and opened with $162.1 million at the worldwide box office. The film had a production budget of $180 million.
