Sam Levinson is Excited for Zendaya’s Growth and Euphoria’s Third Season Theme
Elle reported that Euphoria’s creator, Sam Levinson, admires Zendaya‘s growth and competitiveness. He’s looking forward to the third season’s “film noir” theme and exploring principles through Rue’s character.
Levinson said, “She’s the most competitive person I know, in a good way.” Levinson added, “She’s constantly growing as an artist and always seeking a challenge. She’s never complacent.” (He adds that he sees Euphoria’s upcoming third season as a “film noir” and says, through Rue, he plans to “explore what it means to be an individual with principles in a corrupt world.)”

Speaking to Deadline, HBO’s Drama Chief Francesca Orsi shared that Euphoria faced delays due to the pandemic, leading to a 2.5-year gap between Seasons 1 and 2. Season 3 will take even longer due to Sam Levinson’s other project, Zendaya’s schedule, and a writers’ strike. The show’s second season premiered in January 2022.
Euphoria Season 3 Update: Potential 5-Year Time Jump and Cast Changes
Back in April 2023, one of the show’s costume designers, Heidi Bivens, told Season 3 would begin filming in June 2023 and may have a 5-year time jump. “There is talk of it being approximately five years in the future, and that they’re not in high school anymore.” which means we can see Zendaya, Maude Apatow, Jacob Elordi, Alexa Demie, Eric Dane, Hunter Schafer, and Sydney Sweeney in adulthood. According to reports, Zendaya’s deal For Euphoria has been recently renegotiated.
The series follows a group of high school students as they navigate through the trials and tribulations of adolescence, including drug use, sex, and identity issues.
