The sequel to the live-action ‘Dora‘ movie is titled ‘Dora and the Search for Sol Dorado,’ and it is now confirmed that Samantha Lorraine (known for ‘You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah’) will play the role of ‘Dora the Explorer.’ The role was previously portrayed by Isabela Merced, and she has been replaced in the sequel.
The film will be directed by Alberto Belli (known for directing the Disney+ holiday feature ‘The Naughty Nine’) from a screenplay by JT Billings.
According to the film’s logline, “Dora, her cousin Diego, and their new friends trek through the perilous dangers of the Amazonian jungle in search of the ancient treasure of Sol Dorado in order to keep this powerful treasure out of enemy hands. Swiper, no swiping!”
Lorraine starred as Lydia Rodriguez Katz in the popular Netflix comedy ‘My Bat Mitzvah’ in 2023. The movie focuses on Lydia’s friendship with Stacy Friedman (Sunny Sandler). She started acting in 2020 on PBS’s ‘Kid Stew’ and also appeared on AMC’s ‘The Walking Dead: World Beyond’ that year.
The first live-action adaptation film based on the animated television series Dora the Explorer, titled ‘Dora and the Lost City of Gold,’ was released in 2019.
