The first trailer for the upcoming Marvel “Secret Invasion” series has been dropped. The trailer was aired during Sunday Night Baseball and then officially released on YouTube (Marvel Entertainment). In the series, Nick Fury uncovers a conspiracy to install shapeshifting Skrull double agents into positions of power around the world. The series premieres on June 21, 2023.
Secret Invasion is created by Kyle Bradstreet for Disney+. The series stars Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill, Kingsley Ben-Adir as Gravik, Emilia Clarke as G’iah, Olivia Colman as Sonya Falsworth, Don Cheadle as James “Rhodey” Rhodes, Martin Freeman as Everett K. Ross, Dermot Mulroney as United States President Ritson, Killian Scott, and Christopher McDonald.
As Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn’s alien leader, Talos, battled side by side in the 1990s-set Captain Marvel, he became an ally of the Skrulls. In that story, the Skrulls were not a threat, just the innocent victims of a galactic war who needed help. But decades have passed since then. “He told the Skrulls they were trying to find them a place to live,” Jackson says. “He promised them they were going to find them a planet or somewhere they could be. And that’s not going so well.” (Via: Vanity Fair)
Smulders said, “I think Maria Hill has really run out of patience.” She added, “She’s always had this really close relationship with Nick Fury, [but] he’s been gone for so long, and she’s just been running around putting out fires.”
“Secret Invasion” consists of six episodes, and is directed by Thomas Bezucha and Ali Selim. The series will premiere on Disney+ on June 21, 2023.
