Marvel’s Thunderbolts* will introduce Bob (Sentry) to the MCU. He is one of the most complicated characters, struggling with mental health issues.
According to Empire Magazine, Bob suffers from numerous Achilles’ heels—more than he has actual heels—including crippling anxiety and other mental health struggles. Additionally, he could, at any time, unleash the Void.

Sentry’s human alter ego is Robert Reynolds, and in Thunderbolts*, Lewis Pullman plays a mysterious character named Bob, whom the Thunderbolts stumble upon during their journey.
Speaking to Empire, Pullman said, “Bob serves an interesting purpose, and I was discovering that along the way.” He added, “He is, in some ways, a vessel to learn about how these other outcasts deal with pressure, rejection, death, and loneliness. How do they deal with a bizarre problem like this?”
Pullman confirmed that he and Florence Pugh have plenty of screen time together, as Bob and Yelena Belova form a bond.

“Whether or not he turns out to be Sentry, one thing is for sure—Bob bonds with Yelena. “I have quite a bit of the movie that I spend with Florence,” says Pullman, describing their two-lost-souls-swimming-in-a-fishbowl dynamic.
“Bob is going through what all of them are probably, secretly, going through,” adds Pugh. “Yelena sees parts of herself in him. She’s always been someone who wants to look after people. She has a soft spot for him and essentially enjoys taking care of him because he’s useless. He’s absolutely useless.”
The film is directed by Jake Schreier and stars Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Pugh as Yelena Belova, Wyatt Russell as John Walker/U.S. Agent, Olga Kurylenko as Antonia Dreykov/Taskmaster, David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr/Ghost, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Harrison Ford as President Thaddeus Ross, Pullman as Sentry, and Geraldine Viswanathan as Erin. Laurence Fishburne and Rachel Weisz are confirmed to reprise their roles as scientist Bill Foster and spy Melina Vostakov.
Here’s the official synopsis for Thunderbolts*:
“In Thunderbolts, Marvel Studios assembles an unconventional team of antiheroes — Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, Red Guardian, Ghost, Taskmaster, and John Walker. After finding themselves ensnared in a death trap — set by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine — these disillusioned castoffs must embark on a dangerous mission that will force them to confront the darkest corners of their pasts. Will this dysfunctional group tear themselves apart — or find redemption and unite as something much more — before it’s too late?”
The film is produced by Kevin Feige, Brian Chapek, Matthew Jenkins, David J. Grant, and Scarlett Johansson
Thunderbolts* will hit theaters on May 2, 2025, in IMAX, RealD 3D, Dolby Cinema, 4DX, Cinemark XD, and premium screens worldwide.
