Marvel‘s ‘Deadpool & Wolverine‘ is nearing its release, and Marvel is considering Shawn Levy as the top choice to direct ‘Avengers 5‘. Deadline confirms that Michael Waldron has penned the latest script for ‘Avengers 5’, and the studio plans to commence filming in January 2025. The film will involve the multiverse concept but will maintain a more grounded approach.
Marvel is set to meet with other directors while they await Levy’s decision, as he is heavily involved as a director and executive producer of Netflix’s ‘Stranger Things’ and an upcoming Star Wars film.
Marvel Plans ‘Avengers 5’ as Its Biggest Production to Date
‘Avengers 5’ will be Marvel’s largest production to date with more than 60 MCU characters reprising their roles, including everyone from Mark Ruffalo as Hulk, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, and Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange to Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi and Karen Gillian as Nebula. Unlike the first four films in which there was a core group that consisted of Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Hemsworth, and Ruffalo, many of the characters in this film would have equal footing, making it more of an ensemble feature instead of a handful of characters leading the team.
We already confirmed that ‘Avengers 5’ will stand alone as an epic, unlike the originally planned two-part event following ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’. Also, ‘Secret Wars’ will be split into two films, similar to ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and ‘Endgame’.
The film follows the events of previous movies such as ‘The Avengers’, ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’, ‘Avengers: Infinity War’, ‘Avengers: Endgame’, ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’, and the second season of ‘Loki’. This film is the 42nd in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and belongs to Phase Six.
‘Avengers 5’ will hit theaters on May 1, 2026. See more.
