A new update for Spider-Man 4 reveals that Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man will acquire the symbiote suit in future films. Filming is scheduled to begin next year.
Are There Rumors About Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield Returning?
In a recent Cosmic Circus October Discord Q&A, Alex Perez revealed that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man will—most likely—obtain the symbiote suit in future films. There are also rumors that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield may return—with more significant roles—given the Multiverse Saga.
Although the film is set in NYC, it is reportedly shifting toward cosmic elements—rather than staying street-level. Venom and other symbiotes might appear as antagonists, while Tom Holland won’t show up in Venom 3. Furthermore, Black Cat is not expected to be a major character in the upcoming trilogy.
According to insider @MyTimeToShineH, Robert Downey Jr.‘s Doctor Doom will have a role in Spider-Man 4, which is connected to the Multiverse Saga.
Recently, rumors about Spider-Man 4 appeared regarding an unofficial title: Spider-Man: King in Black. It’s not clear whether this will be the official title. The film is intended to feature Tom Hardy’s Venom and Andy Serkis’ Knull (the Symbiote God) as the antagonists.
The script is penned by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton on board to direct.
Recently, it has been confirmed that Marvel Studios and Sony have reportedly negotiated a new deal. This deal will have Holland reprising his role as Spider-Man/Peter Parker in three more solo films (Spider-Man 4-6) and three additional MCU films, including Avengers: Secret Wars and two others. Sony is trying to bring back Zendaya, while Jacob Batalon’s Ned Leeds will not be returning.

Spider-Man 4 was initially planned for June 27, 2025, in Sony’s schedule, but it has since been rescheduled to release in theaters in July 2026.
