Spider-Verse trilogy composer Daniel Pemberton has spoken out about the recent report from Jeff Sneider’s The InSneider. The report claims that Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, which was supposed to release this year, was scrapped by Sony, with the majority of the work done for the film being redone. The source also states that the film will likely be released in theaters in 2027.
Following the report, Pemberton took to X (formerly Twitter) to confirm that Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is not delayed until 2027 for creative reasons. He said that the report claiming the delay was inaccurate.
Pemberton said, “Don’t really ever want to weigh in on this sort of stuff but would you ever believe there could sometimes be stuff on the internet that might not always be particularly accurate? Hmmmm…”
In a recent interview with GamesRadar+, Pemberton teased that the entire Spider-Verse team, including himself, is ‘feeling added pressure.’ He mentioned that the conclusion of the animated Spider-Verse film will be more focused, and that his team is currently working to avoid any mistakes.
Pemberton said, “They are beavering away on it as we speak and I think the main thing for everyone is we are so proud of what we have done on these movies, and you want a classic trilogy, you don’t want to let it down, you don’t want to Godfather it. We are feeling added pressure – in capital letters, underlined, with a big exclamation mark at the end.”
He also says that ‘Beyond the Spider-Verse’ will be offering something new to audiences. “I think with these films we have always said, ‘What do we want to see, what do we want to experience, what will make us excited?’ I always think about the audience, but myself as the audience – how will I respond the best to this scene? If you do it in a way you have heard a million times before, it’s boring. I’ve seen that in so many films – you either reheat an old meal or make something fresh, and we are always trying to work out how to do the latter. But the high bar has been set.”
‘Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse’ does not have a release date yet.
